2025 Foshan Qiuse Parade and Greater Bay Area Arts Event Dance Performance Shooting

The Hong Kong Children's Choir (HKCC) Youth Dance successfully completed the 2025 Foshan Qiuse Parade and the Greater Bay Area Arts Event Dance Performance Shooting from October 17 to 19. Invited by Mr. Law Yiu-wai—Honorary Advisor (Dance) of HKCC, President of Association of Hong Kong Dance Organizations, and Director of Hong Kong Ethnic Dance Group—the Youth Dance reinterpreted the Tai Hang Fire Dragon Dance in parade format, bringing this intangible cultural heritage of Hong Kong to audiences in Foshan in the evenings of October 17 and 18. The group departed for Qianhai Stone Park in Shenzhen on October 19 to participate in the second “Creative Peers” Youth Art Gathering in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. This performance featured dancers from both Hong Kong and Shenzhen and used dance to showcase youth connections in the region.
Day 1 17/10
To coordinate with the rehearsal schedule for the 2025 Foshan Qiuse Parade, members of the Youth Dance gathered at Hong Kong’s Lo Wu MTR Station at 6:45 a.m. Under the leadership of Dance Supervisor Michelle LOI, they traveled by coach to Foshan together with Hong Kong Ethnic Dance Group. Upon arrival, they checked into the hotel and proceeded directly to the main venue at Foshan Ancestral Temple Archway Square for rehearsal. After lunch, members prepared for the evening performance with makeup, hair styling, costume changes, and a final rehearsal.
The first parade took place in Chancheng District, departing north from the Foshan Ancestral Temple Archway Square (Main Venue), passing through six designated performance zones, and concluding back to the starting point. The entire parade route covered a distance of around 3.3km and lasted about 150 minutes. The event brought together performance groups from 13 countries across five continents, along with dance teams from Guangdong, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, creating a vibrant atmosphere of cultural exchange. Members seized the opportunity to interact with dancers from various regions, broadening their horizons and enriching their artistic experience.
Day 2 18/10
Members set off early for Xiqiao Town in Nanhai District to prepare for the second parade performance.
Following the opening performance at the main venue in Tingyin Lake Square, the parade passed through five fixed performance zones and concluded successfully at the Paifang Archway on Dengshan Avenue. The route covered approximately 3.3 km and lasted around 140 minutes. Both parades earned enthusiastic support from Foshan residents, which greatly inspired and motivated our members.
Day 3 19/10
Youth Dance members departed Foshan in the morning and headed to Qianhai Stone Park in Shenzhen to take part in the second “Creative Peers” Youth Art Gathering in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, jointly organized by Hong Kong L&A and the Shenzhen Federation of Literary and Art Circles (SFLAC). Led by Dance Supervisor Michelle LOI, staff and members joined dancers from Hong Kong and Shenzhen to shoot the performance with azure silk fans. The dynamic performance drew the attention of many local residents.After approximately 4.5 hours of rehearsal and filming, the group successfully completed their first teacher-student collaborative environmental dance experience under the glow of the evening sunset. That night, HKCC Youth Dance and Hong Kong Ethnic Dance Group shared a celebratory dinner. The three-day performance journey in Foshan and Shenzhen concluded when members, accompanied by staff, traveled to the border to return to Hong Kong after dinner.
