Date: 29/10/2023

"Chamber Youth Concert 2023: So Far So Close" was successfully held on August 7 at 6:30 pm in the Recital Hall of HKCC's West Kowloon Centre. Led by concert conductor Vivian Ip and accompanist Alexander Wong, Chamber Youth presented 6 pieces, leading audiences on a musical journey from the 16th century to present day.
With a repertoire spanning across several centuries, the concert kicked off with El Grillo by Josquin Des Prez, one of the most important composers in the history of Western music. This was followed by Church song Salve Regina; a piece inspired by the work of the Chinese poet Xu Zhimo; There Will Come Soft Rains by Ēriks Ešenvalds, with lyrics from a World War I-era poem; and Everybody Rejoice from 20th century Broadway musical The Wiz: The Super Soul Musical Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
At the end of the concert, Chamber Youth brought us back to Hong Kong and concluded with Choral Suite: This Victoria Has No Secrets by local composer Ng Cheuk Yin and lyricist Chris Shum. Their heartfelt singing won a big round of applause from the audiences.
