HKCC Towards 50th Anniversary “HKCC & Friends” Concert Series: HKCC Sings Steve Ho – A Choral Highlight Concert

31/12/2018, 1/1/2019

HKCC Sings Steve Ho – A Choral Highlight Concert was postponed due to Typhoon Mangkhut in September last year and the long-awaited concerts were finally put on stage on the last day of 2018 and the first day of 2019 at Tsuen Wan Town Hall Auditorium. Two impressive concerts were presented on these special days and audiences were invited to enter the 50th anniversary of HKCC together, along with the beautiful music written by Dr Steve Ho.

The concerts were started by the Golden Jubilee version of Yo!, with new lyrics to celebrate the 50th anniversary. Members from Junior, Intermediate, Senior classes and Concert Choir then performed a series of works by Dr Ho, which most of them are full of Hong Kong’s characteristics, such as Dollar Chicken, Merry-Go-Round and Hiking the Lion Rock. Song integrated with the unique Cantonese Opera’s element Ling Dong Ling Dong Ling, and song that is describing the night market of Temple Street Street Circus of Hong Kong were also presented with the accompaniment of different instruments. Members put on Chinese traditional costumes and sang with well-arranged dance movements, which vividly demonstrated the story written in the songs.

At the end of the concerts, conducted by Music Director Kathy Fok and accompanied by Dr Ho himself, members performed the HKCC 50th anniversary theme song I Just Want to Sing. Their love and enthusiasm towards singing were expressed through the song and genuinely started the 50th anniversary of HKCC with the delightful melody and joyful voices.
