Junior 2B, Senior D, E & F Mini-Concerts 2019

Date: 07/12/2019

For two consecutive days on 7 and 8 December, three mini-concerts were held successfully at the Recital Hall of HKCC’s West Kowloon Centre. The unique programmes were thoughtfully prepared by the members so that parents may enjoy the wonderful music while witnessing the results from the past year’s rehearsals.

On 7 December at 4:15 pm, Senior F, led by conductor Dominic Lam and accompanist Alexander Wong, presented a programme of nine songs. One highlight was the world premiere of Turlutte à l'alouette from the HKCC 50th Anniversary Children’s Choral Composition Selections (Composition Selections), which received a big round of applause from the audience.

On 8 December at 10:25 am, young members of Junior 2B, under the leadership of conductor Ho Tsz-yan and accompanist Michelle Chan, performed a programme with the theme “Symphony of the Seasons”. With sweet and sincere treble voices, and using little props and body movements, they vividly painted the scenery of the four seasons through singing.

Later in the day at 4 pm, members of Senior D and Senior E jointly delivered an hour-long concert. First, Senior D, conducted by Vivian Suen and accompanied by Dominic Lam, sang six pieces of diverse styles and origins, including Psalm 23 from the Composition Selections. Next, Senior E, led by conductor Candy Chik and accompanist Jason Liu, performed four pieces, three of which were taken from the famous musical Matilda. The audience just couldn’t help laughing when they watched the interesting performance with added dialogues and choreography. Towards the end of the concert, members from both classes brought to the audience another three pieces from the Composition Selections, including Spring, prepared under the guidance of the Japanese composer himself, as well as the world premieres of A Child’s Evening Prayer and Silent Noon. Finally, two festive Christmas songs rounded up the concert amidst sounds of laughter and joy.
